Ajinkya Rahane Hails Eden Gardens Pitch After Narrow Loss Against LSG in IPL 2025
In a high-octane clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Eden Gardens on April 8, 2025, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane praised the pitch, calling it “one of the best wickets to bat on.” The match witnessed a combined total of 472 runs, making it one of the most thrilling encounters of the IPL 2025 season so far.
Batting first, LSG posted a massive 238/4, thanks to stellar knocks from Nicholas Pooran (87)* and Mitchell Marsh (81). KKR responded strongly but fell just four runs short, finishing at 234/6. Key contributions came from Rahane himself, who scored 61 off 35 balls, Venkatesh Iyer (45), *Rinku Singh (38)**, and Sunil Narine (30).
Despite the loss, Rahane highlighted the quality of the wicket and the effort from both teams:
“A really tight one. As I said at the toss, the wicket remained good throughout the 40 overs. We gave our best, it was a great game, in the end we were just 4 runs short. When you’re chasing 230-plus, you will lose wickets. This was one of the best wickets to bat on,” Rahane said during the post-match presentation.
